Karatepe-Aslantaş archaeological site, one of the historical and cultural values of Osmaniye, within the borders of Kadirli district,  entered the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Cultural Heritage Temporary List.

The archaeological site of Karatepe-Aslantaş reaches the present day as an example of the defense architecture of the period with its magnificent wall and city gates as an end castle of Adanava, one of the city states established in the Late Hittite Period in Anatolia. Bilingual inscriptions designed as Phoenician and Luwian are another feature that makes Karatepe-Aslantaş stand out in the world of archeology. The longest bilingual text in these languages, written in both the Phoenician alphabet and the Luwian hieroglyph, on the basalt steles and reliefs on both doors, played an important role in the dissolution of the Luwian hieroglyph. The field, which stands out in terms of displaying one of the first examples of on-site conservation and area management in archaeological sites, has been accepted to the World Heritage Temporary List as the "Karatepe-Aslantaş Archaeological Site".
